Fundación Génesis is a private Venezuelan foundation created in 2009 to promote citizenship and universal values in the country by supporting and developing schools, universities and other institutions capable of training young leaders with a profound ethical vision.
In 2014, the foundation launched its flagship program called Growing Up In Venezuela (GUV), which supports private schools in low-income neighborhoods of Caracas.
Operating in Venezuela’s deep economic crisis, GUV helps schools: 1) become financially viable, 2) develop as organizations, 3) and improve the quality of their service.
Over the past four years, GUV has been working with the Arnoldo Gabaldón Preschool and Elementary (UEPAG), its first partner institution. In this time, it has managed to rescue and expand UEPAG's operation, dramatically enhancing the value the school creates for students, parents and workers.
Under GUV's guidance, UEPAG has diversified its sources of revenue through a personalized scholarship program and has learned to measure and improve its social impact. It currently educates 247 children and serves breakfast and lunch five days a week to its students and workers.
